Tennant Carpentry & Building (“we”, “us”) runs this website. This policy explains what personal information the site collects, what we do with it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It covers the website only.
If you would rather just ask a person, write to tom@tennantcarpentrybuilding.com or call 07469 820977.
Who is responsible for your information
Tennant Carpentry & Building is the data controller. Tom Tennant is the person who reads and answers everything sent through this site.

What the site collects
Nothing at all unless you send it. There is no analytics on this website, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no profiling. We do not know who you are, which pages you read, or where you came from.
The one place the site collects anything is the enquiry form on the contact page. It asks for:
- your name
- your email address and telephone number
- the town and postcode of the job
- what kind of work you are asking about, and when you are thinking of doing it
- whatever you write in the message box
You choose what to put in it. If you would rather not fill in a form, the phone number and email address above reach the same person.
What we do with it
We use it to answer your enquiry, to arrange a survey visit if you want one, and to prepare a quotation. That is the whole purpose.
We do not sell it. We do not share it for marketing. We do not add you to a mailing list — there isn’t one.
Where a job goes ahead, we may need to pass relevant details to a specialist trade working on it — for example an address so a delivery can be made, or a measurement so something can be supplied. Only what that person actually needs, and only for that job.
The lawful basis is legitimate interests: you have contacted a business asking it to quote for work, and answering you is the obvious and expected result. Where a job proceeds, it becomes performance of a contract.
Who else handles it
Sending a form necessarily involves the services that carry it:
- Cloudflare hosts this website and runs the small piece of code that receives the form. Your submission passes through their network.
- Resend delivers the resulting email. They handle the message in transit.
- Your enquiry then arrives in Tom’s business email inbox, and stays there like any other email.
Each of these is a processor acting on our instructions, not a party we sell anything to.
Maps on the area pages
Our area pages show a map of the town, embedded from Google Maps. Loading one of those pages loads content from Google, and Google may set cookies or collect data in doing so, under their own terms rather than ours. This is the only third-party content on the site. It is explained in full in the cookie policy.
How long we keep it
As long as it is useful and no longer. An enquiry that turns into a job is kept with the records for that job, because we may need it. An enquiry that goes nowhere is deleted once it is clear nothing is happening.
If you want yours removed sooner, ask, and it will be.
What you can ask for
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete it
- stop using it, or restrict what we do with it
- object to us using it under legitimate interests
Ask by email or phone. There is no charge, and we will answer within a month. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113.
Children
This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything about them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. There is no archive of previous versions; if you need to know what it said before, ask.
