Renovations & Conversions
House renovation in West Sussex: structural carpentry and fitted joinery in houses of any age, run by the same business from survey to the last door.
7 projects Learn moreRenovation and conversion is the broadest of it: houses of any age taken back and put right, from a 1930s semi to a timber-framed barn. Structural carpentry where the building needs it, and the fitted joinery that finishes the same rooms, run by one business from the survey to the last door.
Then the work that adds a room rather than repairs one. First-floor extensions framed over what is already there, and loft conversions taken out of the roof — the floor structure, the steel, the stair and the second fix. Both are the same job approached from two directions, which is why they are sold and shown as one.
Then roof carpentry, underneath both: hand cut roofs set out on the building as it actually measures, trussed roofs fixed and braced, hips and valleys, and the openings trimmed through either. And oak frame structures — entrance porches, porch screens and doors, free-standing work in the garden — cut, jointed and pegged, and left bare to weather.
Then kitchens and fitted furniture, which is where the joinery side shows most plainly and where most of the photographed work still is. Painted in-frame cabinetry with the doors hung inside a face frame rather than onto the front of a box. Wardrobes, alcoves and eaves storage scribed to walls that have moved. Staircases in oak, in houses that already have an opinion about where a stair should sit.
That is the list. It is short because it is a record of what has been built, not a menu widened out to look like a larger firm. Work that is not here has not been done here, and saying so is cheaper than finding out on your job.
Tom Tennant surveys the job, draws it and prices it, and stays on it while the team carries out the work — with the local specialist trades this business has worked with for years brought in for their own part of it. That limits how much can run at once. It also means nothing is handed to someone else halfway through.
