Tennant Carpentry & Building

Areas Covered

Out of Washington, across Sussex and Surrey.

Tom surveys every room personally, and the same team comes back to build and fit it. That is what decides how far the work travels, and it is why the base matters more than the boundary.

Two counties, end to end.

Twenty-four districts, drawn from the Ordnance Survey boundaries — the thirteen of Sussex and the eleven of Surrey. Washington, where the van starts, sits in the south of it, under the Downs.

Sussex, from Chichester in the west to Rye in the east and from the Downs to the Weald, with Washington marked. The towns are listed beneath the drawing. Nothing is handed to a stranger at the point where the drawing becomes a room. The survey is Tom’s, and the site visits while the work is being made, the fitting and anything that needs looking at afterwards are carried out by the same team, working to his numbers. A door that has dropped in its second winter is a visit back, not a renegotiation.

West Sussex has its own page, working through the Weald, the Downs and what each one does to a kitchen or a first floor. Albourne, Arundel, Bolney, Colgate, Cuckfield, Haywards Heath, Horsham, Pulborough, Rusper, Slinfold and Storrington are where the finished work shown on this site was actually built, and there is a garden room at Cranleigh, over the county line in Surrey. The rest of it gets the same process, without a photograph to show for it yet.

The map is the boundary. The list under it names the towns and larger villages, not every settlement inside it: if yours is not there and it is in Sussex or Surrey, it is still covered.
